Dr Jedd Pratt

Senior Research Associate in Musculoskeletal Physiology, Institute of Sport, Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester

Jedd is a Senior Research Associate in Musculoskeletal Physiology at the Institute of Sport, Manchester Metropolitan University, and completed his PhD in Neuromuscular Physiology at University College Dublin.

His research centres on creatine in the brain. He uses magnetic resonance spectroscopy to measure brain creatine and how it changes, with a longer-term aim of finding supplementation strategies that genuinely raise brain creatine and support cognitive function.

In 2025 and 2026 he has published on the reliability of brain creatine measurement, on how strenuous exercise changes brain creatine, and on what the evidence for supplementation does and doesn't show.

What you'll learn

Creatine and the brain is one of the most talked-about topics in creatine right now, and a lot of what's said online runs ahead of the research. Jedd will walk through what the science can and can't tell us yet, in four parts.

  1. 01

Why creatine matters for the brain

The role of creatine in the brain, why it matters for energy and cognition, and why the evidence so far has been inconsistent.

  2. 02

    How brain creatine is measured

Proton (¹H) and phosphorus (³¹P) magnetic resonance spectroscopy, functional MRS, and the reliability and repeatability challenges behind every result.

  3. 03

    Can supplementation raise brain creatine?

How creatine crosses the blood-brain barrier, acute and longer-term dosing strategies, and why the current evidence base is still weak.

  4. 04

What it could mean for health and performance

The potential implications of increasing brain creatine through supplementation, and what would still need to be shown.

Why join

Clarity on a topic full of noise

  • Straight from the lab

Jedd measures brain creatine himself. His 2025 and 2026 papers cover how reliable those measurements are and how brain creatine changes with strenuous exercise.

  • Room to go deep

Our earlier webinars brought together several shorter talks. This one gives a single expert 40 minutes on a single topic.

  • Honest about the evidence

You'll hear what the research supports, what it doesn't yet, and why the studies so far are hard to compare.

  • Made for builders and the curious

For founders, formulators and product developers in CPG, from start-ups to corporates and CDMOs. And for health professionals, coaches, athletes and anyone interested in brain health. Accessible without being dumbed down.
